Where Ableton Stores the User Library, packy, Defaults, and pluginy (Win & Mac)

User Library: Your Personal šetří Location

Windows vs macOS: výchozí Path referenční

What Lives Inside the User Library

On první launch Live creates the User Library with five empty starter folders: Clips, Defaults, groove, presety, and sample. You can add your own subfolders or delete the defaults if you prefer a flat struktura^[1].

The Defaults tree is where Ableton looks when you load a device, create a new stopa, drop a sample, or spusťte Slicing / audio-to-MIDI conversion. packy, Core Library, and Factory obsah

Ableton does not očekávejte you to hunt through Program Files for factory zvuky. The Core Library — the instruments, sample, and devices bundled with your Live edition — and every additional Live pack you own appear under Places → packy in the Browser^[5]. Installed packy unfold as folders; their presety and sample also populate the Library štítky (zvuky, drums, sample, etc.).

The packy label splits into three praktické zones: installed packy you already have on disk, an Updates sekce for pending pack updates, and Available packy for downloady you have not installed yet^[5]. Click the stáhnout icon další to a pack name, wait for the přenesou to finish, then press instalovat. You can pause and resume large downloady from the same icon or the pack's context menu.

Deleting an installed pack from the Browser sends it back to Available packy — useful when you need to reclaim disk space and reinstall later^[5]. VST, VST3, and audio Unit plugin Folders

Live supports VST2, VST3, audio Units 2, and audio Units 3 (AU3 from Live 11.2 onward)^[6]. On první launch no third-party plug-ins appear until you Activate your plug-in sources from the Browser's Plug-Ins panel or Plug-Ins nastavení.

On macOS, VST plug-ins normally live in /Library/audio/Plug-Ins/VST (both the system-wide and user-úroveň Library trees). 1. Open Plug-Ins nastavení
   Press Ctrl+, (Win) or Cmd+, (Mac), then open the Plug-Ins tab — or click Activate in the Browser's Plug-Ins label[3].
2. Set VST folders
   On Mac, enable system VST folders and/or procházet to a custom složka. On Windows, procházet to your VST instalovat directory and turn použití VST Plug-Ve workflow custom složka on[3].
3. Enable audio Units (Mac)

4. Rescan plug-ins

Finding Missing packy and Offline sample

packy installed but not in the Browser? Confirm you are logged into the same Ableton account used to authorize Live, then check Places → packy with Show Downloadable packy enabled in Library nastavení. If the Available packy list is empty or shows Could not retrieve list, sign out and back into ableton.com inside Live, verify your internet connection, and retry the packy stáhnout list^[9]. Re-downloading from Available packy is the cleanest fix when a pack složka was deleted outside Live.

Offline sample in a Set? Když referenced audio is missing, clips show an Offline badge and Live's status bar warns you. 2. Reinstall from Available packy

3. Repair missing audio

Library nastavení, Places, and External Folders

Pointing the User Library at an external SSD is valid — just reconnect the drive before opening Sets that depend on it.
